Mecklenburg HOA Accountability Pledge

Protecting Homeowners. Defending Property Rights. Ending HOA Abuse.

Across Mecklenburg County, thousands of homeowners live under homeowners associations (HOAs) with little transparency, limited accountability, and growing financial risk. Families have faced retaliation, excessive fines, and even foreclosure over minor disputes — often with no meaningful oversight.

SAFERHOA.COM is leading a countywide effort to change that.

The Mecklenburg HOA Accountability Pledge asks County Commissioner candidates to publicly commit to common-sense reforms that protect homeowners, strengthen transparency, and hold corporate HOA management companies accountable.

This is not about micromanaging neighborhoods.

It is about defending property rights, preventing abuse, and ensuring fairness.

Purpose of the Pledge:

Candidates who sign commit to supporting common-sense, county-level HOA reforms, including:

  • Licensing of HOA management companies operating in Mecklenburg County

  • $3 per-unit annual licensing fee (paid by corporate managers, not taxpayers)

  • Creation of a Mecklenburg HOA Oversight Board

  • County Homeowner Bill of Rights

  • Investigate and expose predatory foreclosure practices

  • Stronger transparency and financial reporting

Why It Matters

HOAs control millions of dollars and significant private property rights.
Homeowners deserve fairness, transparency, and protection from abuse.

This pledge gives voters a clear way to see which 2026 county commission candidates stand with homeowners — and which do not.

Public Accountability

SAFERHOA.COM will publicly track which 2026 Mecklenburg County Commission candidates sign the pledge.

Homeowners deserve leaders who defend property rights — not HOA lobbyists.
